How to set up WordPress

  • Get a domain
  • Install WordPress
  • Install security certificates, e.g. from Let’s Encrypt.
  • Familiarize yourself with the WordPress /wp-admin dashboard to administer your new website:
    • You can create new categories for the blog posts in Posts > Categories
    • To change the default post category, go to Settings > Writing > Default Post Category, and update the dropdown to a new category instead of the default Uncategorized.
